Progress Report vs Status Report

Sat Oct 17, 2020 8:03 pm

Q - You have been assigned as PM for large manufacturing process. This is halfway done and it involves 5 different sellers and 20 members of your company on the project. You want to quickly review where the project stands. Which of the following reports would be the most helpful:
A) Work Status
B) Progress
C) Forecast
D) Communication.

This is from Rita M book but the explanation is very confusing. If you can help please.

Ans B - The key word is quickly. The status report is too detailed for quick look. The progress status summarizes the project status and would be most the most helpful.

The above explanation is very confusing from the book.

well this is very subjective question.
Progress report will usually give delta of progress since last progress report was sent, so while it may give some idea to PM, it may not give entire picture of where project stands,
Status report is not so detailed that it will take many hours to go through,
Quickly is very subjective term
