Project Scope as an input to QC

Mon Oct 20, 2014 2:32 am

Why is project scope is not an input to Qualify Control process?

I know Scope baseline is input to Plan Quality management and the output of Plan Quality management is Quality Management plan which is subsidiary plan for Project management plan. And Project management plan is is an input to Quality Control. But scope is not a direct input to QC.

But is not it Scope should be a direct input to the Quality Control? How we are going to vet the deliverable if we don't have the scope with us?

Cheers,
Bha ba ni :)

Project Management Plan includes scope baselines ( Project Scope Statement and WBS ), so it is included.

Dear Saket,

Ah!!! now I could say we need WBS and WBS dictionary more than Scope Statement for vetting the deliverable.

Btw Project Management Plan is input to almost all the Process, then why do we need individual item as an input? :(

For many process PMBOK talk about the item that is taken as an input for any specifics process from the Project Management Plan. But for Quality Control it does not specifically stating item like Scope Statement, WBS and WBS dictionary from the Project Management Plan is an input to the Quality Control.

Yes you do see such level of discrepancy in PMBOK, sometime they our explicit focus on one item of Project management plan by showing it as separate input, Just take a learning of it... and you can give feedback to PMI, they will fix some ine PMBOK ver 6 :-)
